What is gomoney?

gomoney is a digital bank that offers peer-to-peer payments and integrated third party services. We have created a digital banking experience that is relevant to a diverse group of individuals and our goal is to continue creating convenient experiences that allow people better understand their money and how to spend it.

Our 100% stress-free platform allows you to: open an account in just 3 minutes, pay all your bills on one platform with our specially built in-app services, track your spending with carefully curated categories and even request payments from that debtor that’s been dodging your calls. Yes, all of the above and that's only the beginning.🙇🏽‍♂️

How secure is gomoney? 🔐

With us, you can rest easy knowing your money is 100% safe. We're in compliance with all of the CBN's guidelines and all deposits are insured by the National Deposit Insurance Corporation.

For added security, we're also ISO 20000-1 and ISO 22301 compliant, and PCI-DSS compliant. This just means that we take you and your money very seriously and have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure that you never have to hear long story.

What information does gomoney store about me?

We will always ask for your consent before storing any information about you. Here are the 4 categories of information that we could possibly store:

  • Information you submit through our app or website - An example of this is your name or email address.
  • Some details about your transactions with us. 🧾📒 - Transaction IDs, the status of your transfers, etc 🙂
  • Information on how you use your gomoney app on your device - Your usage data, IP address, and other unique device identifiers.
  • Information you submit to us from social networks or online accounts. 🤳

What documents do I need to set up my gomoney account?

The same documents you need to open a regular bank account. We’ve made it easier by using a tiered account system. This means that you can start with the bare minimum and upgrade your transaction limits by providing more information later.

What banks can I transact with on gomoney?
gomoney is a financial institution recognised by the Nigerian Inter-bank Settlement System (NIBSS), meaning you can transact with any Nigerian bank. Please note that sending money from gomoney to other banks attracts a fee of ₦8.50.
What international transactions can I perform using gomoney? 🌍

Currently, gomoney functions primarily in Nigeria; unfortunately, this means that you will not be able to directly send to or receive money from international bank accounts.

However, with your gomoney virtual card, you can perform international card transactions, pay for your subscriptions or enjoy your online shopping spree in peace. 🛍️
Who can use gomoney?

gomoney is available to anyone who is at least 16 years old and meets the regulatory requirements as issued by the CBN. We've built an inclusive platform which is why once you have a Nigerian phone number, you're ready to go regardless of your citizenship, financial capacity or internet access.

Everyone who interacts with money frequently (so everyone) can use gomoney. You don't have to saddle yourself with traditional banking processes to access quality financial services.

We also serve:

Small business owners 🧑🏾‍💼: gomoney can be used by online vendors, artisans and even small business owners to request money from clients and customers.

Parents 👨👩: You can send money to your kid's gomoney accounts and escape the stress of holding on to cash or the hassle and cost of opening a traditional bank account.*

What is Split Payment? ➗🧾

Split payment is a feature that is designed to simplify group financial commitments. This makes it perfect for dividing payments like the cost of a night out with friends, a surprise anniversary gift for your parents or shared household expenses amongst flatmates.

Who can I split a payment with? 🧑🏾🧑🏿🧑🏾🧑🏿

You can split payments with any of your gomoney contacts!

Once you're invited to a group, you're sent a prompt to either accept the invitation or reject it. This is to ensure that you're not just added to groups by people you don't know. You're also sent a prompt to pay your share of the bill; this makes it a conscious action you choose to take.

What are Payment Links? 🌐🔗

Payment links are another way for you to interact with money. With Payment links, you can send and request for money from any of your contacts, even if they are outside the gomoney ecosystem.

You can generate and send a payment link to anyone in your contacts via SMS, email, DMs, WhatsApp etc.📱All the recipient has to do is follow the link to open the app for peer-to-peer transactions or open an online payment gateway where they can transfer money to your account.
What are Payment Pages? 🌐📃

Payment pages are what the recipients of your payment links will see. It's a page that allows them to accept the total or partial payment of your payment request. Once the link is clicked, the recipient will be guided to choose how much they'll like to send to you, provide their details and they're good to go. We recommend that they create a gomoney account to make it easier to send money to you next time. 😉

Please note that making transactions from the payment pages incurs a 1.5% fee (of the total amount the recipient chooses to send) to our payment partners.
What is Scheduled/Recurring Payments?
gomoney aims to make managing your money hassle-free. The scheduled payments function does this by allowing you to engage in committed spending over your desired time period. You can set up a future payment for any time and even make it recurring at any of the available frequencies (weekly, monthly or yearly) with ease. This feature is perfect for paying bills or for any other product or service that needs to be paid in installments ↩️
What's free and what isn't?

Our goal is to always be transparent with you;

Free

  • Transactions within the gomoney ecosystem are free.
  • Setting up recurring payments, splitting bills and scheduling payments are all free by default.
  • Your first virtual card is free.

Not Free

  • Sending money from gomoney to other banks will cost you N8.50.
  • Fulfilling payment requests via the payment pages - the sender will be charged a 1.5% transaction processing fee by the payment processor.
  • All subsequent virtual cards after the first one will incur a fee of N1000.
What is gomoney's virtual card? 💳

gomoney offers the unique feature of a virtual card which can be used to pay for online subscriptions like Netflix, make international transactions (for those Amazon shopping sprees 😉) and even be attached to your Bolt and Uber accounts. As the card is digital, you can avoid the stress associated with searching for or losing physical cards.

How do I resolve any technical issues I might run into? 🤔

We've compiled a list of typical customer issues with a detailed guide of how to quickly resolve many of these issues.

However, if you encounter any other issues (or are unable to resolve a specific issue based on the guide), please contact us by clicking on the 'Help' icon in the bar at the bottom of the gomoney app. One of our team members should be able to help you resolve your issue.
What do I do if I get locked out of my account?

Chances are we've done this to protect you from unidentified or possible fraudulent transactions.

However, this could also occur because you inputted the wrong password one too many times. In the case where you've entered an incorrect password, you'll need to recover your account and go through the forgot password flow to get back in.

What do I do if I forget my transaction PIN?

E be like that sometimes. Please send us an email at support@gomoney.global and attach a valid means of identification.

Pro tip: Remember, you can enable face ID/touch ID for authorising transactions on compatible devices under the privacy and security section of the gomoney app.
What do I do if I think my virtual card may be compromised?

If you think your virtual card may be compromised, please freeze or block your card in the app immediately.

To do this:

  • Open the homepage of the gomoney app and swipe right to the second section of the homepage.
  • Here you will see your virtual card and 3 possible actions listed below it: reveal details 👁️, freeze ❄️ and block 🔒.
  • Select the relevant option and input your PIN to proceed.

What do I do if I think my account may be compromised? 🙅
Please change your login and transaction pins immediately and then contact us with details of the abnormal activities you witnessed on your gomoney account. You can send us an email or contact us via the help section on your app.
What happens if your mobile phone goes missing? 😧
Your funds are still 100% secure. No one can initiate a transaction without your PIN or log in without your passcode. When you get a new phone, you can recover your account by re-installing the app and logging in as an existing user. If you're still concerned, you can send us an email at support@gomoney.global
Is gomoney a lending platform? 🤝🏾
Currently, gomoney does not offer lending options so you cannot apply for a loan via our service. However, we will update you once this changes.
Can I have multiple gomoney accounts? 📱📱
Unfortunately, you can only have one gomoney account registered to your phone number.
How do I request a feature to be added to gomoney?

We love that you want to help us improve gomoney for all our users. Thank you.

To request a feature:

  • Click on the 'Help' icon in the bar at the bottom of your go money app.
  • On this page, you will find the 'Suggest a feature' button.
  • Selecting this will allow you to contact our team with your suggestion which we will review, reply to and possibly implement.
Can I reverse a transaction? 🔙
Sadly, you cannot reverse a transaction. It's important to confirm the recipient before hitting send. However, if you observe a strange transaction on your account and you believe you have been a victim of fraud, please contact the gomoney customer support team immediately through the live-chat option in the app.
Concerning your account
What is my account number? 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣4️⃣5️⃣
Your account number is the last 10 digits of your registered phone number. Yes, it's that easy. Go on, start spending!
What do I do if I have forgotten my login passcode? 🔢

Simply open the gomoney app on your device and click on the 'forgot passcode' option. To reset your passcode:

  • Input the Nigerian phone number associated with your account and the OTP that is sent to you.
  • Then answer your security question and that's it! Welcome back.
Also, did you know that you can log into gomoney using touch or face ID on compatible devices? Simply go to the privacy and security section of the app and enable touch or face ID for signing in and/or authorising transactions.
What is the limit on my tier 1/2/3 account? 🛑

We adopted a tiered system to make gomoney more accessible to everyone. Here's what you need to know;

  • Tier 0 - To mitigate against fraud, stay within the CBN guidelines and still serve you, we created a tier 0 account. This account allows users fund with only NGN 20,000 at a time. With this account, your daily and cumulative transaction limit is NGN 10,000 and your daily bill payment limit is NGN 1,000.

  • Tier 1 - Tier 1 is the default tier when you open your gomoney account. With a tier 1 account, your funding limit stays at NGN 20,000 but your daily transaction limit increases to NGN 30,000. Your daily bill payment limit also bumps up to NGN 5,000.

  • Tier 2 - With your BVN verified account, you become a tier 2 user, and your daily transaction limit increases up to NGN 200,000 and your bill payment allowance also increases to NGN 50,000.

  • Tier 3 - At this tier, your daily limit increases to NGN 2,000,000 with bill payment allowance at NGN 50,000 and a cumulative of NGN 5,000,000 (As a bonus, you receive as much as you like!)

If you are unsure about the tier of your account, click on your profile (the circular icon with your initials or profile picture at the top of the homepage) and you will see the tier of your account stated beneath your name.
How do I upgrade my account? 🔺

We love that you're enjoying spending on gomoney and want to upgrade your account. Here's a breakdown of how to upgrade:

Click on your profile - it's the circular icon with your initials or profile picture at the top of the home page. Here, you can select the option 'upgrade to a full account'.

To upgrade your account to tier 2:

  • Add your BVN to verify your account.

To upgrade your account to tier 3:

  • Insert an image of a valid government-issued photo ID such as an international passport, driver's license or NIMC card.

  • Take a selfie. This allows us to confirm that you're the owner of the ID you submitted.

  • Input a photo of your signature for gomoney's records.

How do I change the personal information associated with my account?

Personal details such as your home and email addresses are editable in the personal details section of your gomoney app. To access this section, click on your the circular icon with your initials or profile picture on the home page of your app. This will lead you to your profile page.

Unfortunately, for security reasons you cannot edit certain personal details such as you first and last name or date of birth.

However, we understand that this may be necessary due to autocorrect issues, accidentally inputting the wrong name or date of birth. In these situations, you can send our customer support team a message with your ID card attached and we'll get you sorted.
I'm having issues verifying my BVN.

Please cross-check the digits of your BVN and try again.

If you have forgotten the digits of your BVN or just want to double-check, you can dial *565*0# on the number registered to your BVN, and you will receive a text with your BVN.

And if all else fails, send us an email!
How do I add money to my gomoney account. 💰
  • Open your gomoney app.
  • Click the "fund" button on your home screen to view your gomoney account details
  • Make a direct bank transfer from any bank of your choice into your gomoney account.
Remember, your account number is your phone number without the first digit (zero). 😊
I'm having difficulties receiving an OTP to set up my gomoney account.

This may be due to a number of reasons:

  • Please check that your phone number is a registered Nigerian phone number. gomoney is currently only available in Nigeria, but we are hoping to expand to more territories soon.
  • It is possible you are experiencing this issue because your network providers is slow or unable to deliver the message. Please try again.
  • If you use an application like Truecaller, your OTP might have arrived in your Spam Box.

Can I log into gomoney on multiple devices at the same time?
No. Unfortunately, you can currently only log into your gomoney account on one device at a time. However, we will update all users when this changes.
How do I deactivate my account?
Considering the plethora of goodness that gomoney offers, we recommend that you hold on to your gomoney account as you might need it at some point. However, if you're certain that closing your account is the best decision, please clear out your gomoney account and then send us an email at support@gomoney.global.

Set Up A Split Payment

To split a new payment simply:

  • Open the gomoney app, click on the payments icon and then select the split option.
  • Create your split group or accept the invitation to a group.
  • Once all parties accept the group invitation (to ensure no one is added to a group they don't know), the amount can be added and you can get splitting!

To split an existing payment:

  • Select the payment in your homepage.
  • Click on the icon labelled 'Split this cost'
  • Add the bill to a group or split it with a contact.
Schedule A Transaction

To schedule a payment:

  • Click the payments icon and select the ‘Scheduled payments’ option.
  • Choose a contact, input an amount and add your customised message.
  • You will be prompted to decide the frequency of the payment (one-off or standing order), then choose the payment date.

OR (if the user is not a frequent contact of yours):

  • Click the payments icon and select the ‘Send money’ option.
  • Select ‘Send Money to GoMoney’ and input the phone number of the user.
  • Input an amount and add your customised message and then swipe right to activate the ‘Schedule Payment’ feature.
  • You will be prompted to decide the frequency of the payment (one-off or standing order), then choose the payment date.

Cancel anytime:

  • Click on the payments icon and select ‘Scheduled Payments’
  • Select the specific payment you want to delete.
  • Here you will see 3 options: ‘Edit’ (where you can edit the amount and customised message), ‘Deactivate’ (where you can suspend the payment) and ‘Delete’ (where you can delete the payment).
  • Confirm you want to delete the payment.
Set Up A Virtual Card
We're excited for you to try this out!

To create your card:

  • Go to the home page of your gomoney app and swipe right to the second section of the page.
  • Once there you can create your card by clicking on the 'Get a virtual card' option.
  • You will be prompted to choose a PIN for your card and voila, you can start spending instantly! 😊

If you're unable to create a virtual card:

Please ensure that your BVN is linked to your gomoney account and try creating a card again.
If the problem persists, send us a message by clicking on the 'Help' icon in the bar at the bottom of the gomoney app. One of our team members should be able to help you resolve the issue.

If you're having issues paying with your card:

Please send us a message describing what the exact issue is through the live chat option under the 'Help' section of the gomoney app. One of our team members should be able to help you resolve the problem.

Resetting your card pin:

Unfortunately, you can't do this for now. If you're worried that your card has been compromised, you can block it and request for another. See how to do this under 'How do I view the details of my virtual card, freeze or block my card?'

Managing your virtual card:

To view your card details, freeze or block your card, simply:

  • Open the homepage of the gomoney app and swipe right to the card section.
  • Here you will see your virtual card and 3 possible actions listed below it: reveal details 👁️, freeze ❄️ and block 🔒.

  • Select the appropriate option and input your PIN to proceed.

Virtual card fees:

Your first virtual card is FREE. However, all subsequent virtual cards will incur a fee of N1000.
